“Every summer Chevy Chase takes his family on a little trip. This year he went too far.” An instant comedy classic was born in 1983 when director Harold Ramis, writer John Hughes and a star-studded cast led by Chevy Chase debuted in National Lampoon’s Vacation. Originally based off a short story Hughes wrote for the Harvard-based National Lampoon titled “Vacation 58,” the Hollywood version became a critical and box office success bringing in over $60 million!

Centered on the Griswold’s summer vacation, the family patriarch – Clark – just wanted to spend a little quality time with his wife Ellen and their children, Audrey and Rusty. But, in a true twist of luck, things start to go incredibly wrong as a comedic tale unfolds of a crazy family and their incredible adventures that leave audiences doubled over with laughter. By the way, are we there yet?

Recognized as one of the greatest comedies of all time, Vacation’s success is largely in part due to its very memorable cast including a few actors both young and old whom you just might recognize today. Who are they, where are they now and how have they aged? Hop in, buckle your seatbelts and enjoy the ride as we take a look at the cast of National Lampoon’s Vacation then and now. Next stop Walley World – or perhaps a little detour first!
